报告人简介:
Dr. Kristen Verhey received her Ph.D. in Biological Chemistry from Harvard University in 1995. She then carried out postdoctoral research in Cell Biology at Harvard Medical School in the laboratory of Dr. Tom Rapoport. In 2002, she started her own laboratory in the Dept. of CDB at the University of Michigan Medical School and rose through the ranks to be named Associate Professor (with tenure) in 2008 and Professor in 2013.
Research in the Verhey lab is focused on the regulations of microtubule-based transportations in mammalian cells. Her work has uncovered general mechanisms of kinesin regulation by autoinhibition of motor activity, spatial regulation by post-translational modifications of microtubule tracks, and temporal regulation by cargo binding. Recently, her lab identified the importin/Ran/nucleoporin system as a critical regulator of ciliary entry of the kinesin-2 motor KIF17. This work revealed important molecular, structural and functional relationships between nuclear-cytoplasmic and ciliary-cytoplasmic trafficking in mammalian cells.
