2. Development and utilization of plant resource, especially for fiber crops and medicinal plant
3. Accumulation of active compositions and regulation of gene expression for medicinal plant
Research Description:
To date, identification of a particular Chinese traditional medicine still remains complexity. Traditionally, the identification of medicinal material is based only on morphological features. In fact, it is difficult to identify medicinal materials based entirely on these features, even though the quality is essentially associate with the right identifies. Benefiting from molecular techniques, DNA markers have now become a popular means to identify species, varieties, and even individuals. Some studies were carried out based on RAPD, AFLP, RFLP and gene sequences analysis for revealing the genetic polymorphism of Chinese traditional medicines and differentiating wild materials from its cultivars. The objectives of our research were to (i) analyses and estimate genetic diversity of kinds of Chinese traditional medicines, (ii) identify Chinese traditional medicines form different production areas including wild or cultured materials using different molecular markers analysis.
Improve and innovate plant resource by tissue and cell culture or genetic engineering, especially for medicinal plant. Quality of medicinal plant general take depends on their active compositions. The active compositions may be affected by genetic, environment and artificial factors. It is necessary to research the genetic diversity, gene expression and so on for evaluate and improve the quality of medicinal plant.
