Opening：Postdoctoral Scientist and Co-PI positions
– Stem Cell/ Epigenetics Studies: Tongji University, Shanghai, China
We are looking for several highly motivated postdocs, and a co-PI to join the group of Dr. Xie to study on stem cells. Specifically, to undertake research to investigatehow epigenetic mechanisms regulate the gene expression landscape and facilitate the setup of distinct cell fates after the asymmetric cell division of stem cells.
Dr. Xie received his Ph.D. in molecular cell biology from the Institute of Biochemistry & Cell Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2010. In 2012, Dr. Xie joined the Johns Hopkins University (USA)for his postdoctoral researchcentered on how epigenetic informationisdistributed duringthe asymmetric division of stem cells. Thesestudies,which was published on prestigious journals like Cell, Science and Trends in Cell Biology, have shed light on a long-standing question regarding whether and how stem cells retain their epigenetic memory. Starting from2017,Dr. Xie became a tenure-track faculty member in the School of Life Science and Technology atthe Tongji University.
The lab is currently well funded by multiple funding sourcesincluding the prestigious ‘National1000 Young Talent Program’ (2017). We will use mammalian stem cells, Drosophila and mouse model to explore the important role of epigenetic mechanisms in regulating key ‘stemness/ differentiaion’ genes for stem cell fate transitions. Breakthroughsfrom these studieswould be of great scientific significance in understanding the pathogenesis of tumor and tissue degeneration; and benefit the development of novel therapies in the study of regenerative medicine as well, as.
Successful candidates should be highly motivated and have an aptitude for stem cell research. He/ She should possess good academic ethics and integrity;be enterprising, enthusiastic and wish to collaborate;skilledin communication and expression.
1.A Ph.D. in a relevant subject including stem cells, epigenetics, developmental biology, and tumor research, biological data analysis (image data or ‘omics’ data).
2. A track-record of decent publications (At least one first /co-first -authored publication)
3.Fluent in English; skilled in giving scientific talks to different parties;be capable of reading and writing professional literatures/grants. Previous experience in an internationally renowned university / research institute is a plus.
Conduct research independently; participate stem cells and epigenetic research projects in the lab; tutoring graduate students.
